Astrid Zweynert, writing for Reuters AlertNet, highlighted the upcoming First International Conference on Crisis Mapping (ICCM) that will take place in Cleveland 16-18 October.
Check out Patrick Meier’s blog for an intro to crisis mapping and a regular stream thoughtful posts. Patrick organized the conference with John Carroll professor Jen Ziemke
It looks like it will be a great event, but I don’t get the Reuters headline:
Crisis mapping brings X-ray style clarity to humanitarian response
Crisis mapping is to the humanitarian space what x-rays are to public health.
I think this is a promising field. “X-ray style clarity” oversells it a wee bit.
Update: Meier rethinks the crisis maps and medical/diagnostic analogy. My comments here.
